On Saturday, September 29th, 2012, Color of Teal hosted NYC's first Ovarian Cancer Expo and Teal Affair Charity Fashion Show to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. The Ovarian Cancer Expo and Teal Affair Fashion Show was hosted at Hotel Pennsylvania. Zumba with Natalia warmed up the crowd to "kick" off the day's seminar, and Tamika Coverdale, Esq. provided a nutritional seminar.  The seminar featured guest speakers: Barry Boyd, M.D., of Yale University, Michael L. Nimaroff, M.D., of North Shore University Hospital and Leslie R. Boyd, M.D., of NYU Medical Center.  The event also provided a Survivor Segment which featured guest ovarian cancer survivors Andrea Herzberg, SHARE Cancer Support- Ovarian Cancer Helpline Coordinator, and Patricia Bahia, Musician and Songwritter.  The event featured fellow ovarian cancer organizations such as SHARE Cancer Support, T.E.A.L. Walk, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (N.O.C.C.), and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF), plus dozens of health related organizations, and merchant vendors.



TEAL AFFAIR CHARITY FASHION SHOW

Hosted by the "Original Runway Diva" Sharon Quinn, the fashion show featured designs from: Monica Mens Couture, Stay by Stacey Angela, Otis Da'Mon Millinery, Michi Knitwear, Eyani Couture, SK Wilbur, and Addon Chad Couture. Music was provided by DJ O. Minaya.  The expo was a true success as there were over 200 attendees, tons of giveaways and free gift bags with tons of informational literature and items from our sponsors!


Color of Teal stands for Curing Our Ladies through Ovarian Research of Teaching Educational Awareness and Leadership. Color of Teal is an ovarian cancer advocacy organization that was founded in 2011 and is based out of New York City. The organization was created by Genese Valentine after the passing of her mother, Miriam Valentine. The organization has brought many survivors, friends, and families together to overcome the aftermath of Ovarian Cancer and help them see the positive to come. Along with establishing relationships with Ovarian Cancer survivors, Color of Teal also builds relationships with people currently diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and try to help make those victims into survivors as well.
